If it is just one time to compile kernel then no need to repeat process every new version, so no problem at all.

does it mean that I have to update kernel manually (re-compil kernel every time new version of kernel released) ? This is what in my mind & make me frostrating from this idea & refusing it. as for RPMFusion it was just an idea, check with them if they can provide pre-packaged support for your hardware in their builds of proprietary drivers.ġ) you mean that they will NEVER enable it by default - even after 5 years from now ?!!! It would serve you well to do so both now and in the future.

You of course have the choice to learn kernel compilation. having switchable graphics further complicates the matter because again, each OEM configures the switch circuitry and power management by association differently too. they cannot guarantee it will work (especially where switchable graphics setups are concerned) and are not able to test the hardware so don't support your hardware.

I have no problem with rpmfusion, so is their custom kernel or a driver suitable for me at rpmfusion repositories ?Īmdgpu - developers disable support for Opal XT by default for the explicit reason I already explained, OEM customisation. There is misunderstanding due to wrong from my side: I did not mean in this thread amdgpu ! I mean Radeon open source driver (xorg-x11-drv-ati)īut regarding amdgpu you are wrong because: I'm already opened a bug in upstream kernel bug tracker system, & they replyed me that amdgpu is supporting my VGA but disabled by default & I have to build custom kernel. You will note Fedora is not among them, however it doesn't mean someone on COPR or RPM fusion hasn't compiled a driver that supports fedora kernels and Xorg/Wayland The power consumption of the graphics card is, and the fabrication process is only 28 nm. The manufacturer has equipped AMD with GB of 4 GB memory, clock speed 1000 MHz and bandwidth 32 GB/s. It is featured by the acceleration option and able to run up to 980 MHz.

The links may not work, the purpose of the quote is purely to show you the proprietary driver's supported operating systems. The graphics card AMD Radeon R7 M260 runs with the minimal clock speed 715 MHz. CentOS/RHEL 7.4 isn't supported and is unlikely to be either. The best option as far as I can see for you hardware is using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS or a derivative of that OS.

There are no opensource drivers that will support your AMD gpu sometimes reference proprietary drivers for Linux will work but if not, then you are quite frankly stuck with Windows which is what it was designed specifically for in the first instance, especially where switchable graphics setups are concerned. AMD manufacture has equipped graphic chips with 32 GB/s bandwidth and 715. AMD Radeon R7 M260 process technology is 28 nm that is a good result of the release date. The base clock speed is 715 MHz, whilst its speed in turbo boost and supplementary overclocking (maximum) is 980 MHz. The reason being notebook manufacturers produce a custom design using a bespoke GPU chip and memory combination tailored to an individual notebook or range, then submit these to AMD for approval and license to carry a trademark. It is time to review AMD Radeon R7 M260 benchmark performance. Mobile devices are not the same as their desktop counterparts. You need amdgpu-pro which supports your mobile hardware codenamed Opal XT. No, it won't because amdgpu is completely wrong driver and doesn't support your hardware.
